The Savoy Hotel
WASHCO overhaul a historic laundry system at one of the UK’s most famous hotels with a new five-star facility.
Requirement:
Synonymous with luxury, The Savoy Hotel prides itself on providing exceptional service to its guests. But, with 268 rooms and over 6,000 items processed through their laundry each day, maintaining the high standards guests have come to expect can be challenging with inefficient and unreliable machinery. During the tender process, it was made clear that it was critical for the hotel to remain fully operational throughout the entire process. As a result, they would need machines supplied on loan to prevent any downtime.
Solution:
With a five-star reputation to uphold, the Savoy felt that WASHCO was best placed to meet their guests’ exacting standards with the installation of new high-performance machines, whilst delivering the end-to-end project management solution that was required. After getting a feel for the hotel, its operations and any challenges that needed to be overcome, the WASHCO team were able to identify the machines that would be best suited to them.
A selection of first-class equipment
To meet their operational and capacity requirements, WASHCO recommended the following for the install: 5 x Miele PW6321 washers; 5 x Miele PT8807 gas dryers; 1 x Miele PW6207 washer; 1 x Miele PW6080 washer; 1 x Primus DX13/13 twin stack dryer
Carefully considered install process
There were a couple of challenges that needed to be addressed during the installation. This was largely due to the fact that the Savoy’s machines are located up on plinths 400mm above ground level and the many tight doorways throughout the hotel – making for a tight squeeze. The WASHCO team needed to take great care to ensure there was no damage done when removing the old machines and bringing in new ones.
Results:

Thanks to a rigorous planning process and the extensive knowledge of our engineers, the installation was completely seamless and resulted in zero downtime and faultless integration of the new machines into the current laundry set-up.
