The Elms School re-equip their laundries with machines from WashCo

The Elms School in Malvern, one of the country’s oldest schools founded in 1614, has been buying its laundry equipment from Washco Commercial Laundry Systems for many years. The school, which takes boys and girls from four through to 13 (year 8), has three laundries.  There is one in each of the boys’ and girls’ changing rooms that handles all the games kit and swimming towels, and one upstairs which handles all the bedding including duvets, bath towels and the pupils’ and staff personal clothing.  The school operates very flexible boarding arrangements to fit round different families’ requirements – but around 120 of the 170 pupils board at least some of the time.

WashCo have recently installed two Amazon HSF 11kg capacity washers and two Huebsch 16kg tumble dryers, replacing machines that were installed in 2001 and have been in continuous use since then – so they have given good service! Sandra Beard, head of laundry at the school, told us last year, “The laundries seem to be in more or less constant use, I often start them off at 5.30am and they are rarely finished before 6.00pm.  And when there are matches the changing rooms laundries are often operating during the evening as well.”

Suzy Brandwood, bursar at The Elms, said, “Our relationship with WashCo goes back a long way, and they continue to give us excellent service and extremely reliable equipment.”
