Reading launderette buy dryers from WashCo as it is re-equipped after fire

The Elm Park Launderette in Reading has been on the site since 1952 and has been owned by Satanam Baines for the past 13 years. In 2015 it was severely damaged by a fire and during last year was re-equipped prior to re-opening.  As part of the re-equipment programme Mr Baines bought three 17.4kg Speed Queen  Loadstar tumble dryers from WashCo Commercial Laundry Systems.

The launderette is set on a busy main road in a largely stable residential area – Mr Baines tells us that he has many loyal customers that have been coming to him every week since he bought the site 13 years ago!   He says a significant number of local properties do not have washing machines, but he also gets a lot of drying only business, particularly in the winter. In addition about 10% of his business comes from visitors to the town staying in local hotels and guest houses.  Local football clubs are also regular users of the launderette right through the season. The launderette is open from 8am-8pm seven days a week and is always attended, with the attendant offering service washes.  A dry cleaning service is also offered although this is sub-contracted.

The launderette gets a number of 5 star ratings on Google.  “The launderette is always busy, and the Speed Queen dryers are very popular and very reliable,” Mr Baines told us.
